MALAYSIA - INDONESIA BORDER RELATIONS
Pakej : SIXTH MALAYSIA PLAN
Sinopsis Video
The Malaysia-Indonesia border measuring 1,647.8 km in Borneo was officially opened for land crossing on 25 February 1991. It was the first land crossing between Tebedu in Sarawak and Entikong di Western Kalimantan, and opened a new chapter in the relations between the two neighbouring countries, following the end of Confrontation in 1966. The objective of the land crossing was to boost trading ties between the two countries, stimulate tourism, and accelerate the pace of development in the border area. It would also prevent smuggling of goods and human trafficking across the border. The official launch of the cross border initiative was jointly carried out by Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak and the General of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Indonesia, Tan Sri Try Sutrisno.
