In the history of badminton in Malaysia, a lot of world class champion had been produced. The listed names of the champion were Wong Peng Soon, Abdullah Piruz, OngPoh Lim, Chan Kon Leong, Eddy Choong, Tan Aik Huang, Ng Boon Bee, Tan Yee Khan Punch Gunalan, Misbun Sidek, Razif Sidek, Jalani Sidek, Ong Tiong Boon and Ong Beng Teong. However Dato’ Hj. Sidek Abdullah Kamar is the well-known name in the badminton field in Malaysia. His triumph in educated his children, Misbun Sidek, Razif Sidek, Jalani Sidek, Rahman Sidek and Rashid Sidek to be the national champions of badminton had been recognized by the current Sultan Selangor at that time, DYMM Sultan Salahuddin Abd Aziz Shah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Hisamuddin Alam Shah. He was awarded with the title Dato’ on 1990. Rashid Sidek also showed his own achievement. He won Thomas Cup in 1992, gold medallist of Commonwealth Games in Auckland on 1990 and Victoria on 1994. He also won bronze medallist in Olympic Games in Atlanta on 1996. Beside that, Rahman also one of athletes in the badminton team that won Thomas Cup in 1992 by defeated the closest enemy, Indonesia. The glory made by the children of Sidek had gave a new image of Malaysia in the world of badminton. The efforts made by Haji Sidek to make his children as the champions of badminton had been continued by his children. His children continued his effort when being chose as national coaches of badminton. Roslin Hashim, Hafiz Hashim, and Datuk Lee Chong Wei are the new champions that had been produces by Sidek’s generations.
