KEDAULATAN PULAU SIPADAN DAN PULAU LIGITAN
Pakej : EIGHTH MALAYSIA PLAN
Sinopsis Video
Geographically, both the Sipadan and Ligitan Islands are located off Sibuko Bay on the coast of Sabah. The distance from Sipadan Island to the nearest mainland of Sabah is approximately 15 nautical miles and it is approximately 7 nautical miles from the island of Mabul. The island has an estimated area of only 7.68 acres. In 1969, a dispute arose when Indonesia objected to Malaysia's delineation of a stretch of territorial waters and continental shelf which included the two islands claimed by Indonesia as Malaysian territory. The arguments presented by Indonesia to back its claim were rejected by the court which on 17 December, 2002, found that sovereignity over Sipadan and Ligitan Islands belonged to Malaysia by virtue of effective occupation and administration.
