Pakej : NINTH MALAYSIA PLAN
Sinopsis Video
The Malaysian dream of sending the first astronaut into space was announced by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad, when he visited Taman Teknology Malaysia on 7 August 2003 to view Malaysia’s second micro satellite Razak SAT. Following the announcement, the National Space Agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) launched the National Astronaut Programme on 13 October 2003, which attracted 11,267 applicants from all over the country. Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor was subsequently selected to be the country’s first ever astronaut on 9 October 2007. The success of the National Astronaut Programme paved the way for cooperation with other international space agencies such as JAXA from Japan, ESA from Europe and NASA from the United States. The Programme provided the stimulus for Malaysia to join the developed countries in building its capacity in aerospace science and technology.
